During her training at TCU, Christine focused her studies on Auditory-Verbal therapy with supervision from a founding member of Auditory-Verbal International. Her master’s thesis focused on parent training in Auditory-Verbal therapy. She received clinical training at Our Children's House at Baylor outpatient pediatric clinic treating a variety of communication disorders, and at Harris Methodist Hospital, where she saw adults in inpatient acute, long-term acute, and outpatient settings.
Christine spent her clinical fellowship year at Chattering Children in Richmond, Virginia providing mentored Auditory-Verbal therapy. She has over 1,200 hours of experience in Auditory-Verbal therapy, and has received training using standard Auditory-Verbal Curriculum. While at Chattering Children, Christine founded the research department, and had the pleasure in engaging in collaborative projects with the Department of Otolaryngology at the Medical College of Virginia.
Christine opened EFSH in 2008 providing family based services to children and adults. She has provided services in home, school, hospital, and clinic settings as a part of her work at EFSH. She has worked with children in over 15 counties in Virginia, and presented at workshops and conventions about hearing loss, aural rehabilitation, and newborn hearing screening follow-up. She has served as an active member of the Virginia Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Advisory Committee, and has done quality improvement work as a part of their learning collaborative.
Kimberly Dangerfield Hassenger currently resides in Richmond, Virginia with her husband and three boys. She joined the team at EFSH in 2010 as Clinic Director. Her youngest son Maxx is a successful, fully mainstreamed 9 year old with bilateral cochlear implants. Her goal is to support other families by mentoring and sharing her knowledge, and by raising awareness about the endless possibilities for children with hearing loss. She volunteered with AG Bell and Hands and Voices in Virginia organizing fundraisers and events to support children with hearing loss. Kimberly was a seasoned Real Estate Associate Broker in Virginia and Georgia, specializing in neighborhood development and new home sales. She has a passion for painting and has created masterpieces throughout the Richmond area in many homes and commercial buildings, including all of the painting and murals in the EFSH Hearing House Clinic.
